Artist Statement

irina As far as I can remember – creativity was always my passion. In my younger years I enjoyed drawing, knitting, making wood burning pictures and model figures with plaster. I attended the Art School in Kiev, Ukraine.  I always expressed myself by relying on my natural instincts and feelings in my art.

The more I got involved in creating art, the more I discovered that I have artistic vision- which is what I believe is one of the most important qualities one must possess in order to be an artist. I tried different mediums and found oil to be my favorite. I’m planning to learn more about different techniques and discover more ways to express myself in art.

Designing jewelry is my other passion. I came up with a very rare jewelry making technique- crochet. Long time ago I used to make the Frivolité- French Lace and that knowledge gave me the idea for crocheting the gemstones in to the necklaces. The jewelry making business has grown a lot in the past couple years. I have many clients, and several stores that sell my jewelry. I am very lucky to turn something I love to do into a good business opportunity. One of the stores is the Waygoose in Bethesda and Rockville locations, another is Belina Boutique in Bethesda.

Making jewelry and painting is a form of meditation for me – relaxing, and fills my heart with positive energy and joy. I hope that by looking at my paintings or wearing my jewelry you would feel the similar joy and positive energy of my creation.
